Boot Time Apps

For some unknown reason i cannot run any programs during the boot of XP (sp2).

Was trying to run a PageDefrag on boot up when i noticed.
Even a simple thing CheckDisk will not run during boot

Things that are scheduled to run when xp actually starts are ok.
Its just the things that are set to run during boot dont work, i get the XP boot screen then just a black screen + have to manually reset the PC using "last known good config" to get it to boot again.

Anyone had this prob before ??

Yes. Switch to linux.
Yes that would solve all my problems wouldnt it :confused: :confused:

Wrong forum mate, This is The "MICROSOFT" forum, not "JUST FOR LAUGHS"

Anyone with a real solution ?

try to replace your boot entry with the standard boot one by importing my attached file;
then reboot and try to activate ChkDsk for the next boot;

btw: How do you schedule ChkDsk, manually via command promt?

I was scheduling for a chkdsk at next boot !!

@ scarecrow , yes the service was enabled.

I found from the aplication log that chkdsk was actually running ok, but i had no display of it just a black screen.

So i reverted from the nvidia 9x.xx drivers back to 8x.xx and everything ok again :D

Must be some sort of driver delay in the 9x.xx drivers .

Thanks for all suggestions (apart from the linux one :p )

Thanks for the news. I've heard quite a few horror stories about the nvidia 9XXX series' drivers, but disabling services and tasks was not in the menu... :roll:
