boot.ini not found??

Hi,

When my computer boots, just after the bios and just before the kernel image, I get a blank screen with 2 lines:
Bad boot.ini
booting c:\windows\.
I checked on c:\, and I don't have a boot.ini (not sure if I had one before...)

The computer boots correctly after this...

How can I repair this?

thanx

This is my boot.ini (dual boot - WinXP Pro/WinMe)

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition"
EDITED

LOL, there is no space between W and S in WINDOWS but I can not edit that, in Edit window everything is displayed OK, without space, when I click Save Changes space appears :confused:

checked mine and its the same as jasmins all bar the C:\="Microsoft Windows Millenium Edition" line as i only have XP :)

just make one in notepad and rename the extension from .txt to .ini :)

Thanks guys, I'll try to make a new one.

@jasmin: yeah I know, thanx. I hate windows hiding things from me :)

I have only one os, so why xp is giving me an error?
Because it is supposed to exist at the root of your active partition. However, if it doesn't exist XP simply boots the default NT loader from %WINDIR and everything goes fine- no problem at all.
