how do i set the BIOs to boot from CD in the award bios set ups for ASUS, i know how to do my gigbyte mobo, but this one i dont know how to do , i go into the boot menu, then i get lost!!??
with the gigabyte i just go into advanced bios then change the "first boot device to CD-rom), but this ones got me stuffed

If you have the latest version of your BIOS installed then most probably that it has the "boot screen selection" feature, just press F8 during while the BIOS is loading and after the POST you´ll end in a screen where you can select between all your bootable devices, if your Mother doesn´t have this feature then go to the boot menu, and then enter in boot device priority, in there you´ll find a list from 1st to 3rd boot device, just select order you want to change and press enter then a list will pop up where you can select the device that you want to set.

This is the way to do it with AMI BIOS (American Megatrends) in the models that come with Award BIOS the steps are almost the same.

ASUS Mobo's usually use the <Delete> key to get into the BIOS.

The <F8> key during system startup gets you into Windows boot options like Safe Mode. But you may have to enable it for it to work.

I have an Asus P4P800 deluxe mb with that type of bios. Either use F8 at bios load time as mentioned by weboneando to select fast boot options or use delete key at bios load time to get into the bios, then arrow your way to the boot menu. Here you can fiddle with 1: Boot device priority
2: Hard disk drives
3: Boot settings configuration
4: Security

That was the way to enter BIOS in Asus Mobos until they switch from Award to AMI, now to get into BIOS you must use <F2>, I personally liked more the Award BIOS until they developed full support for all boot devices in "fast boot selection" mode, now selecting from where you want to boot is a breeze: the screen pops up at the end of POST and once you select the boot option it doesn´t have to restart it just continues from the selected device without changing the boot device fixed in the BIOS, so if you always boot from hd and have it set in the BIOS and from time to time you need to boot from cd (like when burning bootable cds and want to test them) instead of getting inside the BIOS and making changes then saving and rebooting now just use the "fast boot option".
