Bios downgrade?

Is it possible to downgrade the bios? I want to downgrade from 5.7 to 5.6 because I think 5.7 is causing a problem..

Is it at all possible to downgrade, or reset to the original version?

As far as i know it is possible, i had 2 do it when i was workin testin motherboards, even if it had a newer bios, we had 2 flash them down 2 a known stable 1

But we used special flash disk's from the manufacturer

Is it vital to format 'windows-partition' before I do so? .. I have always used this procedure since it was recommended to do so with the old BIOSes, but I don't know if I HAVE TO with Flash bios..

Are you speaking about your mobo bios ?

If so then the answer is yes.

I had to reflash my mobo lately too because the new bios gave me some trouble.

There have only been a few BIOSs that caused problems enough to not recognize a HD after flashing. Had to do with the LBA mode type support that one had and the other did not. Would get a good backup, then reflash lower and make sure. If you screw up your HD somehow you can then just reflash and restore.
Probably won't happen though if you use newer m/b and all worked well on the older BIOS before. Q: Why do you need to back flash anyway???

After I flashed the new bios I had some problems with the computer rebooting at all times, sometimes just hanging, giving me the BSOD. This could also happen in the boot-screen (DOS), not only in windows.. so it couldn't be windows.. I formated numerous times thinking it was some shit in windows.. but hey, works fine now.. I just backflashed my bios

this can happen..i had a similar problem with my latest gigabyte bios...maybe your hardware configuration isn´t okay for the new bios...or it is simply a bios bug

Yeah.. It kind of stressed me. A few late nights trying to fix the problem can really make you mad, when nothing helps. Think I reformated at least 5 times. But then it started rebooting by it self in DOS, so there ya go..

One thing I've learned is to remeber what, and when I do stuff like flashing bios and so forth, so I know what I did right before the pc goes AWOL.

Yes its possible, but you should read informations about the downgraded bios, especially if your HDD (probs with big HDD, like 160GB, or if your PC is older than 40 or 80GB) is supportet.

All you need is a DOS-Bootdisk with the flash utility and the biosfile on it.
Boot with this bootfloppy, flash the bios, reboot, go in the bios do the defaulkts settings.
Rebooting to your OS.
If theres no Problem, reboot, go in the bios and set your personal PC configuration in the Bios.

perhaps you could disable the ACPI, before flashing the Bios.
