better compression for downloads

So here is the Story: I downloadet NAV2002 from the download section. It is 29,6 MB big, I extracted the files and Rared them again at highest compression and the file is 23,8 MB big.

My suggestion would be to RAR all future downloads and make an auto extractable archive from it which requires the cdrsoft.cc password. It saves bandwidth and for me most importand: download time. If you calculate how many time and bandwidth this would save its a must.

I hate RAR3

I guess it's time to upgrade my unpacker ... POWER ARCHIVER 6.11 free just doesn't cut it!

For ZIP, the free 7-zip from w*w.7-zip.org makes smaller zips than anything else it's been compared with (not benched it agains Wizip8 though) - especialy if the options "pass=4 fb=255" are used - that really is max compresss!

7-zip's own 7z format is a mixed bag - to bench all the possible options would take forever.

It *USUALLY* reads RAR3 as well, but one I had beat it!

Why do you hate Winrar 3? In my oppinon its easy to use and has a very good compression. Its at least better than WinZip.
