I want to burn mp3`s to a dvd-r disk. All programs I have tried only let me burn to a 80 minute cd. And as we all know a dvd-r disk is 4.7gb.

What you are looking for is burning software. However, if you are trying to make audio CD's, you cannot use DVD-R. You can make DVD data disks, or SACD (5.1 audio), and other formats as well.

There is no problem burning MP3 data disks to DVD- you can utilize the full 4.37 G capacity, although the burned DVD playability at standalones is questionable.
However, an audio CD is not an option on DVD media, you can just make a "videoDVD" where the included mpeg files will be stereo audio-only, or a DVD-Audio which can be built by very few mastering programs.
