Hi People,

I have been having problem with my WinXP Pro internet connection sharing setup (it messed up all the time! ) so I would like to ask you guys of any ICS software that's better than WinXP's build-in one.

Anyone knows one? TIA for any suggestions.

Sygate Home/Office Network is the proven favourite in sharing your internet connection at home or for small businesses. Very eay to set up and, so far, has never failed on my home network.

WinGATE is antoher alternative but I found that a bit "messy" to get it right.

Have a look on these for details of both:

get yourself a little 486 or pentium with at least 32mb of ram and at least a 170mb hard drive and do it the right way. there are several really good proxy setups based on linux that are small and dedicated. one is sme server but the one i have been setting up and using is smoothwall (h**p://www.smoothwall.org). it provides nat (ics), proxy and gateway services, and provides a dmz for an ftp or web server on a separate internal network. not to mention full firewall and av services. after the software is installed you don't even need a video card in it. management is done with a browser-based utility from an internal machine.

h**p://www.analogx.com has a free proxy server + other free software for networking, internet connection sharing, web server etc.

Jestorius - pls do not post direct links outside the Forum or main site.

Amend this link to w*w.analogx.com before an admin gets to it - you'll also stop incurring his wrath if you do ;):D
