I used to be a DAP fan, but the latest releases do not have anymore the nice auto-resume feature from sites that do not support auto-resume (you have to pay for this, keygens / cracks or whatever do not help). SpeedBit have even disabled this in the older versions (it re-directs you to their site, telling you about this).
IMHO, FlashGet is clearly the best d/l manager, atm. I can confirm that it works with "difficult" chinese warez sites quite well (as others already advised) and --above all, at least for me-- it can leech cd covers from /www.cdcovers.cc (it's quite easy to understand what url you should feed it). As a sidenote, it has skins and supports lots of languages.
Btw, a distinct manager is NetPumper which can resume files protected with /www.anti-leech.com
