Which is the best Anti-Virus for Windows? I vote for Norton AV 2002. And you? IF YOU CHOOSE OTHER PLEASE NAME IT.

I'm training as a tech (as I finish my doctoral in Eng-Lit ;p). The problem for anyone providing tech support in Europe is that 1. the solution has to be big enough to provide expansive, immediate response and 2. due to the sheep mentality of Corporate culture, it has to be widely recognized as doing so -- whether it does or not.

My own experience of f-secure recently was that it was difficult to set-up correctly (perhaps my fault) and a resource hog. Norton AV is a resource hog and a b!tch to uninstall, and its probs are about insoluable without a reinstall. But they're the market dominators, so that's what I have to repair, that's what I have to support.

Now, I'd be keen personally to find somebody with a slick, minimal solution.

i voted for other because i don't use any AV-soft
but don't start to discuss with me about that topic, i wont use one !
(we already did that some time ago !)
FortiTude

Norton didn´t find a hidden trojan i hade but Kaspersky Anti-virus Personal Pro 4 found it and Micro Trend didn´t find it either.

So i vote for Kaspersky

1 or even 2 updates everyday

Hey All -- Joripe. linuxwares, and all -- I would be plenty willing to try the Kaspersky solution, inasmuch as it performs well at trojan detection. I've heard it's a bad resource hog as well though. Anyone with an opinion about it? Cheers!

@linuxares:
"Every smithy boasts his own hammer" (East European proverb). :)
As usual for software developers, Kaspersky Labs says only about tests showing their product to be the best. Many "hidden trojans" found by different AV programs are not really trojans. Anyway, for each user "the best" is the one which fits his needs and preferences. Therefore the result of this poll will show not "the best" but the "most used and preferred" antivirus. I don't consider Norton to be the best, but I'm sure NAV will be the winner.

AVG6.0

I can't believe this is not mentioned!!!!!

It's FREE and it fixed what Norton couldn't!

It hardly uses any resources.
They are extremely up to date with worms and all

That's just my opinion!

I use NAV but I just enable the auto-protect when I fear some files. When it is disabled it doesn't take any resources.

Yet another vote for AVG Pro. Been using it for over a year as well and no complaints. I've tried quite a few AV progs and it comes down to what works best on your system as not everyone is going to have the same result with the same AV. Example... I've heard both good and bad on Norton but one proggy they do make that is top notch is Ghost. This works well if you ever do get a virus that screws your system. Keeping a good image on hand with all of your various settings is a must and a lifesaver. Sorry if I got off subject but they kinda go hand in hand as a possible solution in case things all go to Hell.

Yes, there is a progi, that can Scan Outlook express. Get it from w*w.trendmicro.com
No crack / no serial - it's free ;-)
