I am looking to put a dvd drive in and wanted to know if thay play music/ darta as well as dvd programs..

ahh... ok ...so ..yes they r able to read CDs as well ....
u can see their read speed as for example --> 16/40 --> 16x DVD SPEED / 40x CD SPEED ...
