I will have to check the format, the CD burner I got is capable of 4 different formats and I did not select one so I guess it was the default format - whatever that is.

I got the swap magic discs and I manually eject and swap when it tells me to. I insert the back up, hit X and it does not take off - it just kind of freezes, with some red around the edges.

What is the problem? My buddy burned the game on his DVD burner (it is my game, just checking this out before I spend the cash on a DVD burner). The game is ATV 2. I believe he took the ISO image and burned that to a DVD, is that the problem?

Let me know what you think and if it is worth it to spend the cash for the DVD burner.

If the screen is red around the edges of your tv, that means the ps2 cant read the backup cd. Try burning it again. I used alcohol 120% the first time and it worked fine. I burned SOCOM.

what about the external plug in mod chips
Boot PS2 CD backups only. As 90% of PS2 games (all new PS2 games) are DVD based, this limits your ability to boot backups of your original PS2 games.

You will need a DVD burner if you want to fully back up all files from the PS2 DVD game

If you are planning on not using a DVD burner, then you can "rip" out certain files to cut the game down to CD-R size. You can find rip kits & instructions on how to do this over at www.alucard.cc
This obviously removes some larger files from the disc, resulting in loss of sound or cut-scenes etc.
