Awesome XP

Well after having xp kicking around in my desk for some months I decided I would install it,Im ever so glad I did its AWESOME my advice to anyone who is thinking about it Get It In...:)

XP is fine, but for those who use cubase VST and instruments alot I suggest to wait a while as there are some problems, especially for Audigy users ;)

Tried it for a month or so but wasn't too impressed. :(

Found it unstable on some tasks and resource intensive apps run slower than they did under W2K. Might have been OK if I had a higher spec. machine

Now gone back to W2K - much more stable and quicker than XP for nearly everything I need it for :)

The main thing that has caused me problems with XP is Kazaa Lite and leaving on the screensaver, the machine re-starts as soon as the screensaver is activated.
Just one thing that may help you out.
:)
Not being that bright it did it twice before the penny dropped.

i have been a dyed-in-the-wool win2k fanatic since the day it went rtm. it's fast, stable, and it looks very professional. i couldn't stand the look of xp when i first encountered it. i installed it as a dual-boot at home because since i teach operating systems i have to learn it. i must admit that after i have learned a bit about xp and how to tweak it to get rid of the 'features' that i can't stand i have been using it at home almost exclusively for the past few months. i'm seriously considering installing it on my workstation at work now.

i tend to be wary of new things, especially operating systems. and i resist change with a passion. new things win out in the end though or else i'd still be running dos 3.3 on an ibm ps2. :D

oh yeah, it's all woody's fault. :p after i derided him for ages about win98 he moved past win2k right to xp. i had to keep up.

A well tweaked XP is a nice and stable OS. I have used and are still using Win2k..on otherPC,s...but IMO XP is well working. But as with Win2k it has to be set up for each system. The default settings sux. There are a lot of nice sites around for those of you like to tweak manually.
