Avast antivirus=surfing problems?

I just uninstalled Avast antivirus. Now my problem with slow loading of webpages etc,is gone.Wondering if anybody else has noticed this?

I'm using XP home,and IE6.

Why the hell do you want to uninstall probably the world`s best free AV prog?
Slow loading of web pages-"Point to Point Shield" on? I turned the P to P Shield off-and just using standard and internet mail shields.Never noticed any slow loading of web pages though, from before first installing Avast to afterwards..
I`m using XP Pro and IE 6 also..

Glad it's working well for you.Just trying to see if anybody else has noticed this peculiarity.Pages are loading fine since I uninstalled it.

Probably the best AV I`ve ever used, including the expensive pay as you go ones....nav,etc? :)

Okay, again, not questioning if it's good or not.It is one of the best...just concerned with surfing the net. ;)

@woody Again,no surfing problems encountered (with Avast installed) here,my friend... :)

1. I have installed Avast a few weeks ago, switched from Antivir.
2. Lately sometimes there are some problems when surfing (slow and\or incomplete loading of pages. Particularly the incomplete loading is strange, as this never happened before).
3. Are these two things related?? I don't know.

Thankyou! That is the same thing I was asking about. ;) I'm just trying to see if it is a common problem, and could possibly be a bug,or a settings problem. It's really irritating.

Thanks too, plextorman. ;)

@woody, were U suing the Pro version, i think sometimes the Script Checker provider can sometimes slow it down, I had probs too, but not the kind U had bud, mine was avast lockin up as it was loadin, got so bad, had 2 do a format & reinstall, now it seems 2 be workin ok

It looks like you're right about the cause of the "surfing problem". Just now my browser couldn't load a page. Hitting the refresh button didn't help. After completely closing avast using the taskmanager everything was back to normal. I'll give it a few days and see if changing the program settings will help. If not I'll uninstall the program and go back to Antivir , because this sucks!

Yep post at the Avast Forums. I was having a problem with Avast and Kerio (KPF). I posted about it there and had several helpfull answers.

avast

When all euforia about avast started......i uninstalled fsecure and tryed it..my system was so slow--comparing to fsecure..installed fsecure again..no problems..Conclusion is clear... :)

@zver, i have tried Fsecure so many times & each time i have had 2 uninstall it as it loads so much crap at boot time & even after fiddlin with the options, made my PC like treacle, Avst might not be as highly regarded, but it is much better on older systems that fsecure :)

Avast is most probably the fastest antivirus one can afford currently (both the Home and Pro versions), but it's synergies with quite a few firewalls are not terribly happy.
I do know it works well with Kerio 2.1.5, 3 beta 6, Sygate pro 5.X and Look'n'Stop 2.1.4, but it does not work very well with Kerio 4.0.X, Zone Alarm and Blackice.
I would pick up Look'n'Stop (exhellent firewall albeit commercial in it's full version, with a very tiny footprint), but unfortunately it does not seem to be able to coop well with PPPoE devices.

Thanks! ;) Seems you pinpointed my problem.I do use Zone Alarm as it comes with my router. Also using PPPoe,so will just use AvG 6 for now as it seems adequate, and surfer friendly with my current setup.
