Yes - ATI have been really bad with updating their device drivers, especially since the release of XP, I've had problems getting a good working driver for the Radeon 32DDR - until recently. I always had problems playing games with FOG.
The same goes for the new 8500 - the drivers they released are not perfect. apparently the were glitches/distortion in some games, eg ghost recon when the sniper rifle is used when zoomed up on target.
@juji9
Hopefully the new deal they have going with the distribution of their GPU to third party manufacturers will help give them a brand new lease of life.
Dont think Nvidia has the ability to pull ATIs plug so easily. ATI still got a lot of juice pack in it. Just look at the 8500, and the fact that hercules have announced they will manufacture ATI cards - has put ATI in a much better position already.
The ATI 8500 may not beat the Geforce 3 Ti 500's in shear power and speed and may lack a few FPS - it does so in video and it atually has a REAL tv out port connecttion unlike the Geforces. I personally prefer the 8500 over any TI 500.
But i was pretty much gobsmacked when Nvidia announce the relese of their new drivers and beat the ati 8500 in tests - i though the 8500 could at least match the Geforece 3 Ti500 - but i was so wrong.
