Athlon processors and heat

Athlon cpus have the reputation to get very hot under heavy load .
My XP2600 runs @ 44° while downloading Mandrake 10 with Bittorrent,4 open MyIE tabs, synchronising my IPAQ and burning a few cd's with bao....Antivirus,firewall and some spyware programs are running in the systray.
To me,this temp seems not so bad.....I'm interested in what temps you get when you put some weight on your cpu...

I'm mainly interested in Athlon scores, but Intel users are welcome to post their score too..:) :D

mandrake 10 is on the cover of most of the current linux mags bud you could of got it in a nice box with cover for $5 :)

not really monitored my athlon 2.2ghz but i do know they get incredibly hot mate :)

to hot to handle/ touch ive had 2 or 3 different fans and heat sinks to try increase the cooling

Reporting 50 C at idle - though this is a socket probe on a t-bird 1200 - case temp is reporting 38 C - I HAVE an extra intake and exhaust fan, and a dual fan PSU!

Cable layout could be tidier though, I'd treat the old wreck to round cables if I thought it would make much difference.

It's run worse temps and survived, the replacement HSF took 10 c off, and the extract fan took 7 c off - I really ought to dremel the rear fan grille (poor coverage of holes) and fit a wire guard instead.

Despite being dual fan, this PSU dousn't seem to shift a lot of air, and what comes out is quite warm - maybe a high grade fan replacement is called for.

 You can fry your food with that 'puter... :D
lol. Maybe i'll get a poached egg out of it.
Tis 41 now wiz HLT on, but goes 60 when i put more pressure :p
Case @ 33

my 3000+ runs at 44 degree (socket), 57 (internal diode) under normal load
under high load (prime95) die temp reaches 65 degree, socket 48
case: 31 (but it's open)
room temp is almost 25 degree so quite hot in here ...

AthlonXP 3200+ runs @ 50° after some heavy gaming. Otherwise it's 45°

60 full load here when encoding movies on xp 1700+..about 55 idle, with hlt on 41 ,case however 38
tropical country here ...:D
with winter coming should decrease by 2-3 @ idling ;)

Somewhere around 43 degrees here, but I'm running Mandrake 10 which is way less CPU intensive than XP, and it's an Intel system. CPU fan is the typical Intel one, and some of the heat inside the box is caused by the massive 9-kilo custom built 750W PSU unit...

Primary System running @39 degree normal load heavy load up to 45 degree Case temp from 29 to 32 degree depending on load. Tri fan power supply.

Both systems have a drogon orb CPU Cooler including chim, 5x 80mm intake fans and 120 mm exaust fan standard and running WinXP_PRO

Secondary system a bid hotter 45 @ normal load 49 @ heavy load running two Icute 350watt power supplies. Case temp from 31 to 35 degree depending on load.

System specs see below :D

Watercooled barton 2500@3200 (1.75 v)
Cooled with vcool(turned off when transcoding etc)
Using onboard sensors.
cpu 32 system 41 @ idle (fans run @ 4\5 v)
Cpu 41 system 46 @ load (fans turned up a bit)
Also have a little via epia-m mobo with a via eden cpu(500mhz fanless) running @730mhz, 45@idle 65@load with a small fan running @5v
:)

My barton 2500 running @ 2.10 Gig, has never gone beyond 55 degree's.
I have no special cooling stuff + the heatsync that came with it is still there.
My case is always closed and only have 1 case fan !!

@Roadworker Nice temps :)
I am running an xp2600 @2.2 gig
2 fans on the side, 1 on the front and 1 on the back.
CPU is an Aero 7+ (variable speed) and Arctic Silver 3 thermal compund.
Coolermaster 450 hyper psu
Idle at the moment is Cpu 46 and case 32 (fan about 60%) Full speed on fan gives Cpu 44 and case 33
Currently on the net. Winamp playing, Prime95 running `torture test`
I have 50 cpu and 34 case (after 10 mins)

Yes your right about Cpuidle ( i have used m/m) for a long time.
Idle = 37c :)

I am using a program that monitors the temperature of my hard drives. It shows the temp in the taskbar. You can set it to give you warnings or shut down your system if certain temps are reached. It is freeware and can be found at http://www.rsdsoft.com/
