Asrock K7VM2 motherboard

To all the guru's:

A friend of mine has the above motherboard which has the AMI bios. However he is unable to select the floppy drive as a boot device, the option does not appear, the choices he has are : IDE or CDROM.

Any ideas, I think the bios has failed since a reset of the cmos has made no difference.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Regards
George

Motherboard is only 6 months old, but as mentioned he is unable to set the boot option for floppy in the bios, the boot from floppy option does not appear.
I have downloaded the bios updates but since he is unable to boot the system up having them on a floppy is rather pointless.
Any other sugestions would be most welcome.

Regards
George

First check if the floppy is already enabled in the BIOS and if the correct device is configurated (1.44 - 3.5") otherwise even if in windows the floppy is present the bios won´t let you choose the device, also you could try the F8 option, normally the boot selection screen would let you choose from any bootable device attached to the pc.

Option no.1: Burn a bootCD with floppy emulation.
Option no.2: Use a bootmanager which allows booting from floppy.
Option no.3: Fix your floppy drive/BIOS.
