Hi:)

When U used ForceASPI, did U run the killaspi batch file, this kills & removes it so U can run instaspi 2 intall 4.60?

Also is it XP U are using?

I am using XP SP1. I installed the SP to try to correct this problem.

I ran the kill aspi which produce the report from aspi check in the attached gif.

But the installation and reboot only produced the log in my first post.

1. Do you have a SCSI card on your system? If yes, remove it (if possible) before installing ASPI.
2. Shut down all programs before running InstASPI
And finally, install ASPI logged in as administrator.

I don't have an SCSI card and I tried what you suggested - no success.

The problem seems to be that when I try to kill the ASPI I get "Access is denied" to WNASPI32.DLL but when I run aspicheck it says that this component is not installed.

Weird.:(

hmmm can you find this file with find files function !?

unregister it use the runn command in the start menu (assuming this can be done in xp !? can someone confirm ) when you find it with the command in the run bar ...

REGSVR32.EXE /u C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM wnaspi32.dll
this should unregister the wnaspi32.dll and you should be able to manually delete it :)

then try using FORCE aspi to replace it :)

Boot into safe mode and delete the file c:\windows\system32\wnaspi32.dll by hand.
There's obviously something running that uses this file at normal mode. Or you can do that booting from the XP CD and running the recovery console- if you feel familiar with that.

I really don't understand this - it's driving me mad.

I booted into safe mode - deleted all 4 files successfully. But when trying to install using Forceaspi I still get "Access is denied" for wnaspi32.dll. It's not even there!!

I have Nero installed and I notice it has wnaspi32.dll in it's own directory. Could this be the problem?

I also have Alcohol 1.4.3.518 installed with one virtual drive. Could this be the problem?

I want to use Discjuggler but it won't work without an ASPI layer. Is there anywhere I can put wnaspi32.dll to fool DJ like you can with Burnatonce (by putting wnaspi32.dll into the external folder) ?

I wonder if it is Alcohol & it's virtual drive causing the prob?

Try setting Alcohol 2 not have any virtual drives & not 2 mount them on next boot, i always disable the virtual drive & have never had any probs in doin so

Maybe the virtual drive is using ASPI in some way?

To Disable it, run alcohol & select virtual drive options.
Set no of virtual drives to 0 & uncheck the mount on next boot box, then reboot 2 be on the safe side

Hope It Helps

try copying the wnaspi32.dll into the c:\windows\system folder then check with yer aspi checker ?! see if it checks out ok ?!

I've tried everything suggested - nothing works.

Is there any way to find out if wnaspi32.dll is being used and if so by what application?

Did you try to delete it from recovery console and it denied???
That's weird... it never happened before!
No i deleted it successfully in safe mode. There is no WNASPI32.DLL in my Windows/System folder. But when I try to install I still get the message "Access is denied" in connection with that dll. The others install fine.

What is denying me access? There is no WNASPI32.DLL installed on my system.:(

go to

device manager -> view -> show hidden devices

-> non plug&play drivers

if aspi32 is listed, rightclick and uninstall
(or disable and then unistall)

reboot and try again

Thanks nonenowhere it seems to have worked - at least partially:D

Aspicheck still reports WNASPI32.DLL as not being installed but Discjuggler no longer complains that there there is no aspi layer and recognises my drives. Device Manager also reports that ASPI32 is installed and working properly.

Thanks again - I got my DJ back !!
