Agnitum Outpost

My findings on Agnitum Outpost

Agnitum Outpost (Free or Pro edition) has been mentioned in a couple of threads. I have never used this software. Until now that is.

I recently upgraded ZoneAlarm only to find out that it gave an error. I have always been satisfied with ZoneAlarm but sometimes
you want to try something different. I thought...what the **** lets try Outpost Free as it also has good reviews.
And yes...it is imho and with not that much knowlegde of firewalls
a good firewall. No popups as in ZoneAlarm (don't miss it).

There is a Pro version of Outpost but I don't intend to use it.
Since there will be no more cracks/serials/keygens or whatever is involved with warez why not stick with the free version?

I would like to know who else has experience with Outpost?

I was using outpost some time ago, before i moved to kerio, and now sygate. It was a good bit of software but i just didn't get on with it.

Thats why i turned to (in my oppinion) a more professional firewall.

I use Outpost free - no complaints.
Right click on the left pane, and you can open up more categories of connection - WELL please to find that wasn't a PRO feature, as I liked the way they illustrated it with all the statuses seperated.

email protection is a wow - but you have to enable it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was using Zone Alarm 3 and got irritated by the latest version always wanting to call home.

I installed Outpost and was pleasantly surprised by the easy ways you can configure rules for apps, also by the ad blocking facility.

Seems like a free app can still beat the big boys at some things!

What's wrong with the PRO?
You have to buy it (yeah right, with a load of other freebies around!), or crack/keygen it (and we're a warez free forum now)
When the free is good enough, why buy, or risk trusting a cracked security product.

The KERIO Firewall www.kerio.com has perhaps the best of all distribution policies (as of version 2 - not sure if 3 will be the same) - the SAME version, is free for home/personal use - no lite versions, no pro versions - respect!
It is a run-on from Tiny V2 (the team went with it!) and is a mighty fine rules-based firewall - more configurable in that respect than OP free.

There's also Sygate PFW - with an Application/Rules mix - it seemed difficult to configure.

And finally, ZoneAlarm Free - if you like your firewall NOISY and PARANOID - although I think you can have it make less of a fuss over every little ping!

BUY a firewall? - the very idea!

LOL, i almost gave up on outpost pro when i couldnt find a valid serial for it. i was planning to dload the free version but alas!, i found a working serial. :D (too bad the forums are warez-free now).
