I can see it's a good price but is it a good deal?

500:1 is not terribly good for gamers, but still fairly acceptable. It shouldn't be a bad screen at all.

Something like 700:1 makes more sense, or if you are a diehard gamer a CRT screen *still* way outperforms any LCD one for the specific task.
