A RUSSIAN computer security expert has predicted that a large chunk of the Internet will be shut down by terrorists tomorrow

Aleksandr Gostev from Kaspersky Labs was speaking at a conference hosted by Russian Information Agency Novosti. The cyber terrorists main targets will be the US and Western Europe. The story first appeared on the Lenta.ru web agency.

According to VHoax, here, which monitors hoaxes, the story was beaten up by the Russian tabloids which are so bad that they make some of our British redtop papers look authoritive.

Speaking to the INQ, Sophos’s Graham Cluely said that the whole thing sounds like like hyped-up nonsense. “I can only assume that the Kaspersky guys have been quoted out of context in the various Russian media reports.”

He was telling VHoax that some Arabic web sites Arab hackers announced the 26 August as the day of 'electronic jihad ' against Israel.

This time their action will be more aggressive and it will be focused on breaking the Israeli web resources. Arab hackers also issued a call to the hackers of all countries to be combined with them during this day.

In other words he still seems to be expecting something bad to happen today, but not against the world, more like just Israel.
