_RESTORE - Can´t delete

My _RESTORE directory in Win ME has 1,3 GB, but I can't delete it or see it's subdirectories, even showing hiden files.

How can I reduce it's size?

I think U need 2 switch it off just once & it will delete all the entries in the RESTORE folder & then turn it back on, or just reduce the amount of disk space allocated 2 it.Only used Me 4 2 days, then wiped it, so cant rem where the restore options are.I think U just enter system restore & look 4 the settings

Hope it helps, but others will know more, so just wait 4 a few more replies

Ps the reason U can't delete them is cause it a system folder locked by os(not sure)

Remove some previous restore points by using the ME restore utility.
You'd better disable it completely though, since it works like cr*p and slows down the OS.

deleting the "restore"

my system is in portuguese and don't know the names in english.

but try:

just like in the last image posted by jasmin
adjust to "min".

tick in "troubleshooting"
in my "portuguese" tab i see:
configurations:
tick on the first:
"don't restore the system"...

after...
maybe with a boot disk you can change to this folder and delete all!

or something like this in english!

sorry,can't explain better,horrible english!

post the result please!

Good help there jasmin, like i said i never liked Me & only tried it for 2 days, then went back 2 98se.So i kinda forgot where they moved things 2.

But im sure it helped out nunomad

I have dualboot, WinXP Pro for me and WinMe for my kids and, in my opinion WinMe is not so bad except reason for its name (ME - Memory Eater :D)

Suggest you check out the utility program titled System Restore Remover Pro v1.5 by Definition Software.

This utility removes all the garbage (System Restore; System File Protection; PC Health) that System Restore places on your Hard Drive.

System Restore Remover also has a couple of other options. System Restore Remover Pro v1.5 makes WinME a very stable OS.

Be careful with System Restore Remover Pro v1.5, you may get troubles with it!!!!!!!!!

nice tutorial

You also do this to delete viruses in there before they wind up in CAB files. Just DISABLE restore for that to wipe them all out.
