xp won't shut down

when i go to shut down it just goes to:"its safe to turn off computer"never shuts down totally????

is this something new...or what....my last epox did the same..and one had to manually turn it off....I have a A7V333 and my last A7V133 didnt display that old screen..it just automatically shut down...

I remember this problem with win98 and there was a patch from microsoft for this, you should try to look for this problem here:

Did you try: right click->properties->on the screen saver click on the power options tab->APM and check it (enable power management support).

This occurs if your computer is not completely ACPI compatible.This workaround should fix it......
Right click My Computer/properties/hardware/device manager/view/show hidden devices.
There may be one disabled device called the NT APM/legacy interface node.If you enable this shutdown should work.
