I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Yamaha is getting out of the CDRW business. Yep, its sad to say but the F1 seems to be the last great CDRW from Yamaha. Doh :(

From CD Freaks.com:
"Earlier we reported that there were strong rumors (Yamaha did not want to confirm or deny) that Yamaha would stop their CD-R production, but now there is a press release confirming the rumors. The company will cease sales of CD-R/RWs drives for personal computers and will withdraw completely from the business by the end of March 2003."

cd freaks must be overloaded..

I read the article posted by Laz here at cdrbase, but I wanted to read the one at cd freaks as well, posted by dxkim.

Can anybody confirm if they are the same article? For a week I have been having major problems getting to cd freaks. If I do make it there, navagation is difficult and unreliable.

I've spoken to philamber about it and he said that an addition to their forum, official support for DVD2One, has created a flood of visitors, making it difficult for members to log on. Hopefully, they'll sort it out soon.

EDIT: Just realized that Laz titled his post "found this over at CDFreaks"

Yeah, I heard the DVD2One forum has sent the place crazy! Maybe it should be us here going for these new software miracles and getting them to use us for their official forum. ;)

And yep Wedge, I did get that infro from Freaks too m8. :)

Yes it seems you beat me to it Laz. However according to CDFreaks the earlier posts were "strong rumors" that Yamaha would not confirm or deny. But according this new article on 5/Feb/03 it is now confirmed by Yamaha. So now it is official!

Either way it is sad news indeed :(

@Wedge they are seperate articles, but there is a link to the earlier post by Scorpion on the 28th (the one Laz reported on) in the link I provided. Try the link again, as it is working at this present time ;)

Yeah, we've had a few problems the last few days and not just related to DVD2One. However, they seem to be nearly sorted out now and a new server is on the way to cope with the increased traffic.

In the meantime, if you have trouble accessing the forums at cdfreaks using the normal links, try using either this link or this link and you'll probably get through.
