yes those may be considered perfect backups, but they are not perfect. It only means you can make a working copy without hide and AWS enabled, but there are still bits and bytes changed (or substituted) when they write to make it workable.
As for the Hide CDR, it only means if you have only your CDRW burner in your machine to hide it from the game it burns, otherwise no need to use it.
But that's just not my opinion, look around at the reviews for the asus CDRW and you'll see what I posted was correct (and like I said it doesn't support Mount Rainier format [which is becoming the standard]. If it can make perfect backups, then why can't it copy one of those CDs?).
Nonetheless it is a very good copier and on par with other good ones, but doesn't really out perform them in respect to being able to copy more things:

another insert:
"Anyway, if you are the naughty type of person who does nothing but back up CD's then you're not going to be too happy with the CRW-4012A since during this time I was not able to effectively copy my SafeDisc 2 protected NHL 2002 CD. I did not encounter such problems with other protections, however I wouldn't make a habit of it unless your real CD's are in genuine danger, such as from excessive overuse.
One other issue I did come across was concerning the reading of burnt CD's. A few times I found that such CD's could not be read by the CRW-4012A, while they were perfectly readable in other drives. If I tried at another time these CD's were readable, but this did put me off a little." - The DDRZone

PS
they were able to make a working copy of the SafeDisc 2 protected NHL 2002 CD using the same software with another cdrw driver (in other review they have it).
Nonetheless you will probably get better results with other software than the ones they used but there is no perferct burner and one that burns perfectly yet (working copies YES).
This discussion is moving away from the topic though, 'cause this thread is for the yamaha and we should focus on that (which is also a fine piece of hardware).
My rule of thumb: have 2 ore more CDRW drives to make sure you cover all the bases.
