xvid seems to be all the rage
Hi,
I do alot of encoding to .MPEG, strickly for personal use.
I suppose I can
blame ChickenMan for this, thankz
teach.
The appearance of an encoded .avi done using either DivX or xVid to me does have a difference appearance, it comes to personal taste.
For me, I prefer xVid as it kinda has a
glassy film appearance to it that seems to meld together any minor macro-blocks. (oh, the dreaded macro-blocks
)
TMPGenc did have a lot of problems with importing xVid and especially
AC3 .AVI's until I worked out how to solve.
This works when I'm using Windows XP, not sure about Windows 9x/Me.
Launch Tmpgenc and goto Option->Environmental Setting->VFAPI Plugin and raise the DirectShow MultiMedia priority by right-click on that line, then select Higher Priority, mine is set to 1.
Just incase, you may have to goto the TMPGenc directory and rename the CurrentCfg.tpr file to say CurrentCfg.tpr.bak, or delete it.
