Xvid to VCD with Honestech

Hi all.

Is it possible to do a Xvid to VCD conversion with Honestech Encoder, i have done qiute a few movies with TMPGenc and got some really nice results following Chickenman`s tutorial, but with this particular AVI i keep getting invalid floating point using TMPGenc i have watched the movie in the AVI format and there are no glitches.

When i load the AVI into Honestech i get the message "The AVI has been compressed by a codec (Xvid) but the codec necessary to uncompress it is not on your PC, Encoder cannot process the AVI file" but i know that the codec is on my machine, is Honestech compatible with the Xvid format?

If i cannot use either of these to Encoders to convert the AVI file is there another Encoder that will give as good results as TMPGenc.

Thanks.

I assume your stripped the audio out of the Xvid as a WAV file and using that as the audio source? If not I would suggest you do. The Tuts explain how.

What Xvid codec have you installed, I only use the ones from _http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml and NEVER have had 1 problem decoding them.

The Xvid movie can still have problems, I would suggest you strip & rebuild the index using DivFix (do a search for it here)

The Honestech encoder does not give you good quality. The Panasonic Encoder 2.51 (standalone version) does a resonable job in convertion to VCD, a few even prefer it to TMPGEnc. Always worth a try and very easy to use.

So there are a few options for you to look at. Hope one of them fixes the problem.

Thanks for the advice Chickenman.

Yes i stripped out the audio and saved as a wav and i used the
_http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtm codecs too.

Gonna try DIVXfix tonight, and then try again with TMPGenc, i will also try the Panasonic 2.51 encoder.

PS, i would like very much to donate to CDRsoft i have a Nochex account but not a paypal, if you got a Nochex acc sorted i would definately donate for all the help that i have had in the past.

Direct link fixed, but all you needed to do was hit the EDIT button and remove the leeding [u rl] and [/ url] and put a "_" or "/" in the front or so it reads h**p://.....
