Xvid A/v Synch Issue

Hi

I seem to be having major probs with Divx and xvid being out of sync , after convertiung to VCD/DVD.

Problem is when I use DVD Movie Factory ot TMPGenc 2.58/9 and TMPgenc DVD Author, It start's off in synch but then goes way out of sync

I'vce used various guirdes but none seem to work, I'm getting increasing frustrated

I'm wondering whether I have the right codecs installed , I currently have Divx Pro 5.0,5 bundle and BSplayer for Xvid.

Any Ideas ???

I doubt it has anything to do with the codecs, but surely if you are converting XviD then you also have an XviD codec installed? Nic just released a new build the other day if you wanted to try that.

I've downloaded Nic's codec and that seems fine.

If I Play the Xvid the BSplayer it seems ok and in-sync.

Once I either put through Ulead DVD Factory or TMPG DVD Author

It starts off in sync when played throught PowerDVD but then goes out of sync. I'm a bit confused as even if i split the streams with TMPGenc 2.59 to an .M2V & MP2 then use DVD author it still goes out of sync

Is this sync problem happening with 1 dvix/xvid movie or is happen to all/many ?

If the avi does NOT have an EXACT 23.976, or 25.000 or 29.970 frames/sec frame rate them audio will always go out. You can try using BeSweet to adjust the audio to same framerate or check out our Tutorial section.

Hi Chickenman

Well, it's strange as it seems to happen on many of the Divx films and Xvid's that i've downloaded. infact i've not found one that remains in-sync after it's been put through TMPG or DVD movie factory.

yet if I play the Xvid's through BSPLAYER they seem fine. And when I try the Divx ones in Divx Playa 2.1 they are fine also. I have had the odd one that's been out of sync regardless of what i play it through so I assume they'd been encoded that way. I have go BeSweet GUI, do i just extract the audio ?

Thanks

I now encode all through CCE and its been a long time since I ever had a sync problem.

The DivX/Xvids will play fine, but if they were not made correctly then framerate adjusted to be in sync (we cant do that with a (S)VCD ), it will always convert out od sync.

You need to get the EXACT frame rate the avi is at, WMP file properties or VirualDUB file properties will give you that info. If its not at the 3 fps as I posted above then you need to re-sample the audio to the same f/s with BeSweet.

Tried that last night, when I get to putting into TMPG DVD Author, It says the combined Bitrate is over 9000 Kbps.

Tried again today on different Divx, same thing. I tried lowering the Max Bitrate in DVD2SVCD to 8000, made no differnece.

Any thoughts ??

Cheers

You could try a different authoring program.
I dont have that problem with dvdmaestro and there are others too.

Use DVD2SVCD with Cinema Craft encoder better than TMPeg

DVD maestro (I use DVD lab) authors the files U get from DVD2SVCD so U can Burn to DVDR

Follow CM tutes (If U print it U will find it easy to follow) to the letter & U should be OK

Just ignore the 98000 bitate error TMPGenc DVD Author reports, clearly you encoded to 9000 max regardless of what TMPGenc says. Yes you can use Maestro also, even DVDLab as others have said but for the simplicity of divx to dvdr, TMPGenc is 100 times easier to use.

Thanks Chicken man, I will try it tonight,

One thing though in the DVD2SVCD Movie folder where it has my CCE encoded films It has about 3 different audio's. Do i have to convert the mp2 to wav before sticking in TMPG or can i use one of the others ??

I have a large collection of films and as yest have been unable to convert onto dvd-r. Doh !!

Sorry to be a pain but can I also ask what is the best tool for converting the BIN/CUE file to MPEG , i've been using VCDGEAR, but TMPEG complains about an 'Unsupported format' after conversion Any thoughts ?

Thanks

As I say in the Tute, convert the *.MP2 file to *.AC3 for best DVD compliance. Many DVD Players will playback an MP2 audio, but all willl playback AC3.

I use IsoBuster to convert Cue/Bin files to MPEG files. Right click on the *.mpg file within the Bin file and select "Extract but filter only M2F2 mpeg frames"

MP2 to AC3?

That would make it AVI-->MP2-->AC3.

Much better to just use BeSweet and do AVI-->AC3.

These BIN/CUE's are they VCD's or SVCD's?

Chickenman,

Just a shout to say thanks, seem to have cracked it.

One last tiny weeny little favour, Once i've converted the 2 x .Bin's to Mpeg how do i join them before putting through DVD author ???

Thanks in advance

Hi Chickenman,

TMPG DVD doesn't appear to want to join the mpegs , I've got DVD-Lab
How do I join with that then ??

Thanks
