XP and Nero. CDR with JPEG not read on DVD Rom

Hi have Win XP Pro and Nero 5.5. Liteon CDR/DVD recorder and DVD Rom
I copy jpeg files to a cd. burns OK . The cd writer reads them but if I put the disc into the DVD rom it comes up nothing, I have the sevice pack installed and all the latest updates. DMA is cancelled on the writer and all apears OK. HELP PLease

DMA should be enabled on the writer. Are you sure that you have not burned your data to CD leaving the session open? If it is open then the DVD-ROM will be unable to read them.

DMA ENABLED and session burned with Nero was Not Multissesion so is closed. Under XP the cd writer copy function is also disabled. Got me beat.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the totally crackers world of CD-RW.


I'm NEVER surprised when a DVD-ROM drive fails to read a CD-R ... a lot of them just don't seem to be very good at it. The flip side of that, is that if you CAN produce a burn that's good in a fussy drive, you can be confident that it's REALLY good.

Both drives Liteon? - now I'd expect better from those (my own DVD-ROM is a Delta, and it's only GOOD point is that it's RPC1 as standard - other than that, it's a real lousy drive).

Not sure if the latest CDSPEED - www.cdspeed2000.com - can do C1 error counts with that writer (there are other C1 test programs, but hard to find).
If the CD tests with a miserable C1 error rate, and many or any C2 errors in the drive that CAN read it, that may explain why the other one can't.

wont copy disk to disk with a vcd

:confused. when ever i use any program to burn a vcd to an empty cd the computer seems to freeze and is unable to burn. but surprisivley i can burn to an empty cd from an audio recording or a simple data program cd.......
i cant get to copy the vcds for antone that ask me to burn for them

have you tried updating nero to a newer version !? im using 5.5.10.56 as suggested sumwhere here on the forum and it works fine for dvds and dvdrs for me :)
