write error meaning req please

i have a yamaha 4416s i have tried to make a multisession disc
with easy cd creator on a 80 min cdr this is the error that came up
D0100: I/O error (03/02/00) - CD recorder error - cannot seek to the requested location D0100: I/O error (03/02/00) - CD recorder error - cannot seek to the requested location -- what does this mean does the drive not like 80min cdr's or the media brand
or has the laser had it what can i try

It means that it cannot open the new session.
Usually it means some hardware problem, but maybe the new EZCD Cremator version has disabled multisession burning to put Netman down: having just one supporter among millions of (inadvertent) users is harming the company reputation... :p

its version 3.5 old one im getting errors - D0100: I/O error (03/02/00) - CD recorder error - cannot seek to the requested location
D0100: I/O error (03/02/00) - CD recorder error - cannot seek to the requested location

not sure what to do

Regular drive maintenance consists of lens cleaning and transport rail oiling. You must unmount your drive and open it to do that- this breaks the warranty, but I guess it's expired a long time ago. The lens should be cleaned by compressed air (mind not touching the lens at all), and the rails by using a cotton tab dipped in mild lubricator, eg sewing machine oil.
You can also use a commercial cleaning kit, but 99% of them are potentially harmful (can scratch or misalign the lens).

thanks for advise ill do as advised nice one i did try these write unbranded discs and they seem to work hopeing i can find the same ones again i noticed the discs that wouldnt work were
silver underside and the ones that did work were not exactly silver im not sure but is it a very slight blue or similar i take the drive doesnt like silver ones i wonder why

I had the same problem with an old Yamie 6416s, it became very picky as to what brand of blank media used, it burns okay but then the burned disc could only be read on certain readers only. it would'nt even read on the burner which it was created. I believe the laser might be going out (weak burn)?
If anyone know the cause, please help. I would like to use the old thing again. It WAS a reliable burner.

Many Thanks.

maybe its not going but its picky about media could try giving it an
overhaul oil the rails and clean the lens i cant hurt

Either media, drive or software....Cure:Try different ones, maybe drive is broken, find software which works good...For example sleazy 3.5 cant write 80 min and cant overburn.....So dont waiste time....Few years ago i needed one audiocd of 85 min.......And my friend burned with drive as yours....So your drive will burn those 80 minutes--if it works properly, with good media and supported software.....

I've performed the maintenance described above in some VERY old drives, and despite their paleolithic age all of them are currently working (at friend's computers: two Philips CDD-3610, one Mitsumi CR-4802 and one Plextor 12/10/32S). All of them are still working fine, with the exheption of the Plextor which has not been able to treat RW since 1.5 year ago (and that after an official Plextor maintenance).
I agree that burners are very cheap currently, but older GOOD burners can still deliver if treated with care.

i agree have a go try and fix them if possible if your gonna sling it out try and fix it first ya never know it might i be alright as i myself have found out specially with scsi drives ie getting correct jumper settings and right media and thanks to this forum and everyones advise as well
