wps file??..

its a word perfect file erm use ms word perfect ;)

or any version of ms word no doubt ... well at least the latest :)

or use something like quickview or other to open it :)
 
i suppose it's a ms works text document
and like viper said, word should be able to open it and of course openoffice and staroffice too

If it IS Works, and you have MS Word

WPS also has another meaning associated with OS/2 - "WorkPlace Shell", so it could be a file format associated with that.

http://itdl.austincc.edu/blackboard/downloads.htm - There is also a Corel WPS viewer mentioned here, but it seems to have vanished from the official site - all versions seem to be rather old, and may not be suitable for XP.
