WOW! I'm Impressed Very!!! :)

Heres something i want to share with all the newbies out there.

I've just finish a DVD to SVCD(well 1 VOB file at least) and quickly burnt it onto a cdrw and rushed to the DVD player to try it out --- all i can say, after seening the quality of the pictures is WOW! thats amazing. the quality of this SVCD is very very very similiar to a DVD. The next thing came to my mind was FU*K VCD, SVCD all the way man.

But now my problem is how do i merge all those files together as i converted each VOB file individually.
Any one care to give me a hand

Good to see another convert, yep SVCD is THE way to go! :)

The tuts tell it all, but just use TMPGenc. Go to MPEG Tools / Merge & Cut section. I assume you have 6 VOBS, so load in first 2 mpg files, nothing to set, just give an output name and hit Run. It will now join the two files together. If they are t big to fit to one CD, then you will have to play with chopping the second file to fit.

Your Tutorials Chickenman

Kudos to the Chickenman

You've done a brilliant job with those tutorials. I burned an SVCD yesterday after using your DVD to SVCD guide. I have been using DVD2SVCD for well over a year now and, frankly, I have never seen such perfect quality.

As far as I'm concerned, your SVCD guide is the best on the net. Only you could improve upon that.

Keep up the good work.

"after i convert the first vob file i didn't get a *.mpg file i got a cue and bin file instead which is for cdrwin to burn so how do i merge in that case"

in the misc. tab,in dvd2svcd prog
check:
don't delet any files ,
just like in CM tutorial ,and you get your *.mpeg.

but your question is very good!
how to merge bin files????
i'm asking too,any help?
;)

slipperz, thanks for the compliment, not sure if its true though. :D I will be posting an update to get rid of Nero, to many problems with it for SVCD. Great for VCD but crap for SVCD.

@Golden, yep you should not have made an Image file, only mpg files. But not all is lost, load the BIN file into Isobuster, right click the MPG file and select "Extract but filter only M2F2 mpeg frames", you will now have a proper mpg file to merge with the next mpg from VOB 2 when you finish that one.

@jorel, merging cue/bin files, its not something you really want to do with (S)VCD cue/bin files. Like this case, bets is extract the mpg file and process from there.

If you can fit 740meg mpg file to a 74min CD and can fit 800meg mpg file to a 80min CD, I think you can work out how much can fit to a 90min CD !

VCDEasy fails me.......

Another satisfied ChickenMan customer, including me as well :D
&CM I used your updated tut (DVD to SVCD using VCDEasy), but after all settings were inserted, I got an error saying the program couldn't locate my drive for my writer  So I had to go back to faithful Nero. Once again, you've done an outstanding job on your tuts, and I thank you :D

now i have a really big file(which i joined after converting each VOB file at a time)
now i want to burn the whole movie on cd and i know i have to cut into little parts so that i could fit onto a normal cd
well my question now is how many minutes of SVCD can fit on a normal 80min/700mb cd

There is no one answer to this as it varies depending on the Data Bitrate you used for both Video and Audio. But will generally be somwhere between 45 and 55 min.

If you want to fill each CD up, I would de-mux the large mpg file (with TMPGEnc in MPEG Tools section) then run avi2mpeg2 (part of bbMPEG) and let it re-mix the 2 files together again telling it you have 800meg CD's and it will cut them exactly for you while muxing. Exactly what DVD2SVCD would normally do.
