Would anyone know why this keeps happening.....

I can back up a commercial film with ease (a film that’s bigger than 4.7 GB) but when I try to back up from the back up its gets 11% - 26% through then just stops

The pattern I’ve noticed is:

When I burn a project to disc which exceeds 4.7gb and needs compressing it works fine.

but....

If I try to burn a project to disc that’s identical size (or no compression required) it starts but then stops half way through.

Has anybody else had this frustrating problem??

Thanks in advance
snoop.

no need cos i used anydvd,

besides this happens when i'm burning none encrypted content.

its as if my pc will only allow me to burn dvds if the content requires compression, if the content fits or is even smaller than 4.7gb disk it has none of it.

Did you try with AnyDvd disabled?
If I remember well,an older version has problems with decrypted or unprotected dvd's..

i have tried both ways with anydvd (enabled & disabled)

any project which i try to burn weather its same size or smaller than 4.7gb, encrypted or decrypted starts but then stops mid flow also freezes up and i cant even eject the disk i have to reset.

when i burn anything bigger than 4.7gb the pc informs me that the selected movie file (or what ever) is bigger than the destination (4.7gb dvd) and will be compressed to fit, i click ok it starts burning and within 20 mins or so its all done happy days big smiles all round :D .

but if i try to copy the back up dvd to make another back up it has none of it! not just that though i can't burn jack sh1t if it does not require compressing, it starts gets 50% through then stops! regardless of weather its encryted or decrypted data.

so frustrating indeed. :( :( :(

Sorry, i"ve never used AnyDVD, think it"s only a driver which descrambles DVD-Movies automatically in the background. What"s the application u r using to copy the DVD-5 disk?
Give a try with DVDdecrypter + blank DVD-RW, mode-Read ISO, mode-Write ISO,...disabling all the these craps running in the backgroung, anyCD, anyDVD, anyblabla...
:)

i've been using Roxio Easy cd & DVD Creator DVD edition. to burn the dvd's
i know people have a low opinion on this but it works fine for me.... not taking into account this new problem i'm having.

i've used dvddecypter and same happens.

Sounds like a good idea to me. See I use DVD Decrypter for all DVD 9 to DVD 5. For dvd 5 to dvd 5 I use Nero or Discjuggler unless the disc is scratched then I use DVD Decrypter. I would unistall the other programs first. Try it what do you have to lose and it free. :D

ok thanks i was kinda thinking the answer would lie in using diffrent software,

can i ask is it generally the case that dvd 5 - dvd 5

As my colleague said in very few words :D and I quote no. :D I recommend DVD5 TO DVD5 disc to disc. No encryption so its done in no time with very litte cpu ussage. So if your pc is runing the way it should no coster. :D

I have to say I’m still none the wiser and if I’m honest I think no one else is!

Well boys and girls I’m sure glad I took the time to register with this forum the pure wealth of info and help I’ve received is overwhelming.

I guess I will end up solving this problem the usually way (by myself)

I would like to say thanks to those that posted comments in this thread but I don’t think I’ll bother because there combined efforts amounted to something I would normally flush away after an enjoyable bowel movement.

I hope other new members that read this do not feel put off or disheartened by my unpleasant remarks regarding how I feel about my experience with this "forum".

Right then, all thats really left for me to do is to thank you all very much for zero help I received.

I think if you keep using your software thats is know to have bad results with burning DVDs and your aren't will to take good free advise from other members especially when software is free. I think we can't help.

This forum is here to help Im sorry if U dont like my reply (no) to your query but I answered your question.

DVD burning is not an exact science <> what works for some does not work for others

Personally to me anyDVD & roxio are grade A crappola & I cant advise on then cos I dont use them.

Heres the action plan for U snoop

First do all THIS

then decide what to use to copy a decrypted 5 DVD <> as suggested Decrypter will do this <> however I use Alcohol 120% for copying.
The best all round software on the market is probably discjuggler that copies DVD fine too.

Another thought re your problem re locking up could be your display drivers.

end up solving this problem the usually way (by myself)
If U do let us know the result by posting here.

I will leave this thread open for your reply.

One last thought abusing fellow members may not be the beat way to get help.
