working 2x media for sony dru500a

Like it says has anybody successfully burnt at 2x on the
fly with this writer
and if so what make of dvd-r actually works, ;)

I've used every firmware from 1.0d to 1.0g and still haven't managed it.:(

I can write at 4x and 1x ok, but the disks I've used supposedly
able to burn at 2x just dont do it,in fact some wont even burn
at 1x on the fly,

and as my blank dvd collection is steadily growing,I'd like some
recommendations on what media to buy before buying any more .

The only ones I can get in my neighbourhood are prodisc 2x.....so far,none has failed on me.......
ps:copying on the fly isn't a good idea,even @ 1x.....you can compare 1x dvdburning on the fly with +/- 22x cdburning on the fly...unless you have a real fast system,it's not recommended...:)

I have burned 200 Ritek 2x with NO errors or coaters.
The purple are the best. Usual $.98 per disc in bulk of 50 or 100

I have the DRU-500UL with the 1.0g firmware but I've only tried CD-R's and CD-RW's. CD-R's work fine but CD-RW's the 2x ones atleast claims that the disc is bad when either trying to format or trying to burn on it. The same discs works fine when I tried it in a DVD/CD-RW combo drive.
