Wish DVD Shrink would do the same for my headache!

Hey All,

Purchased a burner and successfully burned a DVD. However, it didn't dawn on me to try and play the DVD in another machine until this morning when I brought them with me to work. Here is the issue. The DVD's do not play on my machine @ work. Nor do they play in my laptop (StinkPad). I assumed (duh!!! ) everything was okay as they played flawlessly on one of my machines at home.

What could be the problem? I'm using Nero 6 along with DVD Shrink 3.1.6. I also have it configured to only grab "English" stuff and omit subtitles as well.

I've plenty of DASD (200 gig) as well as RAM (1 gig). :p

Hope the info provided helps.

TIA,

FBM

Oh one more thing, DVD burner is Liteon 851S

Hmm, I'll try other media. I'm using standard + DVD's. System at work and the laptop do not recognize the disk in the drive (i.e. Drive not ready/Drive Empty). Even if I try viewing via "My Computer". Anyhoo, I'll purchase another brand. I read in another thread that Ritek is good.

Thanks for your comment. I'll let you know how things go.

Is your drive multiformat (will it record to +media and -media) ?
If it does, use -(minus) disks with the Ritek G04 dye !
Ive burned 100's of disks and have not found a player that wont play them !!
Cant recomend any +(plus) media as i havent used any yet.

As Poacher says ... it's most likely your media.

Unlike CDR's the dyetype on DVDR's is crucial to success. You cant just buy the cheapest on offer, because they wont work (that's why they're cheap).

Like the poster above, I have used Ritek G04's -r's (4 speed) and G03's (2 speed) before that and have found them to be superb.
These are compatible with a wide range of standalone players and certainly more reliable than Princo dyes.
The brandname is not so important with DVDR's, it's the dyetype that matters, so be wary of buying disks, where the dyetype isn't mentioned, as they'll most likely be cheap and nasty.

Also DVD-ROM drives in laptops & PC's can be picky about media, so it's important to get the best quality to begin with.
