wireless??

i purchused the NETGEAR Wg311 pci adapter and istalled it into my desktop PC that is connected straight to the internet via cable.
Now i have a Centrino Laptop with built in wireless i made a network name on both my laptop and Desktop and they say they connect fine( im using windows to configure my wireless connection settings on both) both say the are connected good signal strength (peer to peer) at 11 mbps and im not using WEP. So i run the home and small office network wizard and i can see that it knows i have folders on my both computers i cant share and it even see both computers when i view workgroup but for some reason i cant access from computer to computer or access the internet from the laptop. even though it they can see each other in the work group or in my network places and on my WG311 under the support tab where it says
Internet protocol (TCP/IP)
Address <unavailable>
IP Adress <unavailable>
subnet mask <unavailable>
default gateway <unavailable>

even though it says its connected
so i cant share internet and files between the 2 computers even though it says it connected???
how do i resolve this problem
on my laptop it says under the genral tab , under activity the laptop says its sent and recieving( both have activity) but the desktop with the WG311 PCI card says sent only it has 0 for recieved even though the both say they are connected

Yes it see's the remote ones but when you click on the remote one it say cannot find network path, even though the PCs see each other, and contact you administrator crap

Try setting fixed ip addresses to both, you know something like 192.168.1.1 for one and 192.168.1.2 for the other and see if that works.
