Winoncd 5.0 & English installation

Hi there, i just download winoncd 5.0 but the installation is in German language and the link (at the download section of cdrsoft) with the information of how to install the English ver. is down any help...please....

P.S. I edit the setup.ini and add "EnableLangDlg=Y" from "EnableLangDlg=N" but i dont work

Winoncd it's a very stable program and only Nero is better. Thanks for your advice but i already know it, that only the installer is in German language (i have already download the English help files) but there is a way you can change even the install language.

Last good were 3 versions, install if you want but remember what we said,so you got who to blame after the c/format

Using WinOnCD to get DirectCD 5.1 english

Just in case anyone's interested...

How to install DirectCD 5 English from the German version of WinOnCD 5

1. Make an XP restore point (for safety if you can't follow instructions), then install DirectCD 3.01e - [look for "DirectCD" at http://www.wtcracks.com for info on how to install it with just the 3.01e update available to you] - DO NOT REBOOT

2. Install the DirectCD 3.05 update for good measure - REBOOT

3. With a working copy of DirectCD 3 you should now install WinOnCD 5 - BUT choose custom installation and don't install DirectCD! That's right DO NOT INSTALL IT WITH DirectCD. Finish installing - DO NOT REBOOT

4. Install the Service Pack 5.01 for WinOnCD (for good measure). And just in case it matters, I unpacked the update first and made it give me the choice of install languages and chose English. That might have an effect on WinOnCD's language or not, I haven't checked. - DO NOT REBOOT

5. Now the clincher...install the DirectCD 5.1 update for WinOnCD 3.8/5 (DCD51UP.EXE on the roxio.de website). During the install the prog will uninstall the old 3.01e/3.05 version of DirectCD and install the 5.10 English version of DirectCD for you!!! - REBOOT

As usual those nice people at Roxio/Adaptec/CeQuadrat have left their install systems wide open to abuse 8]

Cheers - TMW

Probably they dont know better:D Also thanks for this nice info, btw for all people who are going in this crazy adventure step 1 is the must.Maybe you should rename step 1 in step2.In that case step 1 would be;Make ghost backup before instaling this garbage,or violent unpredicted behavior will follow toward your computer:D

I think Nero is a good All-in-one program for cd-recording. If you are an end user and you want to burn some simple cd it is not so bad program. Of course if you are a power user you can use a conjunction of cd-recording programs for different purposes (e.g. i use EAC+cdrwin for audio cd's, EAC+Feurio for cd singles with different language CD-TEXT, Clone-cd for protected cd's, external encoders for SVCD, MP3....e.t.c.) Winoncd it was a top programm (ver. 3.8) with a very difficult interface for end user, but the development stopped because CeQuadrat the mother company was sold to Adaptec (Roxio). Roxio is desperately looking for a good cd-recording kernel after the problems he had with Win 2000 and XP (that’s the reason why he bought CeQuadrat.) Adaptec's last good program it was Easy CD Pro 2.11c (i think they bought it from Corel --Corel CD Creator 2-- but I am not sure) Of course there are some bugs to Nero but as i said for general use it's o.k. personally i never had ASPI problems with my burners (all SCSI) sometimes the problems has to do with chipset and bus-masters drivers

Thanks for the info TMW i will try it but it seems a little bit complicated, i think there is an easier method. At the download section of Winoncd 5.0 (at this site of course) it was a link how to install it in English by editing only the setup.ini, the link is still here but it reports 403 error. I think after the PHP update the page disappear

Winoncd it was a top programm (ver. 3.8) with a very difficult interface for end user, but the development stopped because CeQuadrat the mother company was sold to Adaptec (Roxio). Adaptec's last good program it was Easy CD Pro 2.11c (i think they bought it from Corel --Corel CD Creator 2-- but I am not sure. Quote from above post!! So bud, atleast we agree at something, that winoncd was allright,version3.Also you saying that devolepment stopped at 3.8.Cant remember exatly, but i think that was before 2 or 3 years. So we agree that last good is version3,last good adaptec was 2.11c(4 5 years old, dont now for that one was it good or not,but belive you for now)and since then nothing(your words from post above). So if you know all that good, and you are so well informed, why the hell want to install that garbage:confused: I would like to be honest with you,to tell you exatly what i think, but my cp would be flloded with messages tomonrow--i could feel it allready!!:) In my language there is one word for people who do wrong things, know they do wrong, and still doing wrong, but that word is not for this forum:) Anyway take care my friend, hope that proggy will do better then i think will do. GONE away for good!!:)

winoncd 5 is as good as version 3.8, they haven't changed anything, just wanted to earn some more money. anyway, the programme is the best ever (but not, of course, for copying copy protected cds, for that use clonecd or blindread; for everything else winoncd is the best). and easycd always produced conflicts, when it just came out, everybody was warned not to use it. easycd creator doesn't produce conflicts, but it's simply crap, even although it works. nero is uncomfortable, still couldn't figure out how to use it to burn several files to cd from my hard disc. discjuggler used to crash in the explorer window, where I defined which files I want to burn. so what's left? clonecd and blindread are for copying only. cdmate is crap. so we are left only with winoncd, which is perfectly ok, because it is the most comfortable programme ever, even if you know nothing about burning. that's why adaptec bought them - they were afraid of competition - because winoncd is 1000 times better than their easycd /easycd creator (any version)

I was going away for good, but

First, this your quote from above(examples); winoncd 5 is as good as version 3.8, the programme is the best ever (but not, of course, for copying copy protected cds, for everything else winoncd is the best). and easycd always produced conflicts, when it just came out, everybody was warned not to use it. easycd creator doesn't produce conflicts, but it's simply crap, even although it works. nero is uncomfortable, still couldn't figure out how to use it to burn several files to cd from my hard disc. discjuggler used to crash in the explorer window, where I defined which files I want to burn. so we are left only with winoncd, which is perfectly ok, because it is the most comfortable programme ever. I simply cannot stand few things.First is;Winoncd 3.6 and 3.7 are the best winoncd versions ever--even 3.8 shoved some problems, but still comparing it to 5 version is simply not nice(last 2 months people just having problems with it,and i remember that 3.8 atleast worked:) Also Discjuggler(Im not using it cose simply not need him,im just burn regular data(backup) and audio, but its the 1 of the most advanced proggys,so prefering winoncd5 instead of Jugller is simply plain nut, also you are very contradictive above;Make your mind;slEAZY creator produce conflicts or not??you have to decide it,cant be yes and no,as for Nero and not finding the way to burn few files from hd,there is nice sentence in my post before this one--somewhere at the end:rolleyes: And now,i dont care if somebody decide to install mobile burner on elephant back,Im not posting here nothing anymore.Im gone, enjoy winoncd while is working, wont be long:D

And one niceone for the end!!!

If i were you,i wouldnt be saying that i couldnt figure out how to burn few files from hd,at least you have "your own"site CDRWarez,so people expect more from you.But as Abraham Lincoln said;we are all people, but we are so different!!!

Indeed you can install WinOnCD 5 in english using the setup.ini metod, but you still get a german help file with it, and the DirectCD that gets installed is completely in German!
It's possible that you need not install any of the previous directcd versions (or even winoncd) to get the directcd 5 update to install itself fully. I would guess you could use bogus registry entries and bogus .exe files to make the update prog think that it is updating when infact it would be installing fresh.

That however I shall save for a rainier day than today...

zver, I said EasyCD produced conflicts, not EasyCD Creator. you have to read more carefully. EasyCD is the predecessor of EasyCD Creator. And though I indeed have this website about burning, I am no professional on burning in general, but only as far as copying of copy protections is concerned. yes, I confess, I have no idea how to burn different files from harddisc with nero. I work with Nero from time to time, but not for this purpose. Why not? because winoncd is much more comfortable. or to put it the other way, nero isn't comfortable at all

pokopiko, to put prassi primocd on the same level with clonecd is kind of ridiculous, don't you think? I mean, if you want to make backup of your config.sys, it might work with prassi programmes, but apart from that...

and even if there are some bugs in winoncd, what does it change? there are bugs in all burning programmes.

no, it's not the gui of prassi programmes. it's simply senseless. it cannot make perfect copies of copy protected cds and it cannot do even half of what winoncd and easycd creator (even if it's crap) can do. of course, prassi programmes are used with autoloaders and dvd burners, but only because they are delivered with the autoloaders, so people who don't know much about burning use them. It's like with AOL: because there's an icon on the desktop of a fresh windows installation, people came to associate AOL with the internet. if you get something for free, you stop searching and use what you were given. in this case it is aol, prassi primodvd or some other product. but if people had to decide which programme to buy, I am sure nobody would pay for a prassi programme, but rather for discjuggler or for gear dvd pro, which, btw, is an excellent product. it's a pity nearly no one knows about the gear programmes.
