Windows xp restoring files from the cd

Could someone please explain how to restore a file from the windows xp cd, i am missing a particular dll file which is probally within a cab file as i cannot see it when searching the cd.,

All help and advice is always appreciated.

Yo bro not on for xp but dis might help you.
A spare (friend) of mine had file's missin from xp after usin it for some months.
Wot he did was to load de xp cd: den chose install, den update.
Dat worked for him no more prob's so far he said.
But people usin xp should b able to clear dis matter up 4U

Open the command prompt (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt), type:
sfc /scannow
and hit "Enter"

Expand !!!

If your cdrom is letter f:

Open the command prompt - goto f:

f:\I386>Expand.exe sfcfiles.dl_ c:\windows\system32\sfcfiles.dll

(in case that you want sfcfiles.dll that in CD like sfcfiles.dl_)
