thanks for reply i think ill not install it ill stick with win98se
as it seems xp is microsoft spyware overkill coperate big brother
its sounds sad but what i do i my pc is no ones business
specially microsoft they can go to ................................

Using Win98SE is indeed your business... I don't think anyone else on earth would find using 98SE politically correct!
BTW I don't like XP at all, but certainly they are ages better than 9X/ME.

just a thought after reading through the link i was given it just made me think as i never new micrsoft made software like that
maybe im green to it all its just that it makes you think about
privacy and your rights to privacy i know thats kinda lame as you semi open to abuse on the net but hey if some guy knows that i like watching certain films or music or where i shop its disconcerting maybe im paranoid or just lost as for win98se well
its what came with the pc and it works fine for me linux seems heavy as i play pc games and such

You can remove Alexa spy from XP, you can stop the downloads without your permisiion, you can lock auto updates... in short you can get a satisfactory degree of privacy and security. It just needs to get familiar to them and use the right tools to tune the system.

thanks for info it leaves me more optimistic about xp ie there's a light at the end of the tunnel how do i tune the system after i install it before i go on the internet i have adaware what else should i do

XP Antispy is a very nice (and almost completely safe) tool.
The best system tweak utility is X-Tec X-Setup, which has unlimited possibilities. Because of that reason, it must be used with EXTREME care, eg NEVER apply a setting the prog warns it's dangerous to apply, unless you are absolutely sure what you are doing.
Avoid crap like TweakXP and Customizer XP, which apply changes without sufficient documentation, and sometimes in a very buggy way.
And finally, another major tweak is disabling system services you don't really need. You can find many useful links/guides here by using the "search"button.
I repeat that I very much favor Windows 2000 instead of XP, but if you have bought XP it's a HUGE step back to go to 98SE or ME (in fact ME are much better than 98SE if you know how to customize them). XP is a real 32-bit/multitasking OS, while 9X/ME is just DOS with GUI and programs running in fake 32-bit mode... in short, a thing from the past.
