WIN98-SE turn off failure

HELP!!!! just did virgin installation of win98-SE on newly formatted disk. Now it hangs during the shut down process forcing me to turn it off manually. Yet....it does not trigger scandisk upon next boot......any ideas?

try this shutdown fix (win98SE does have one):
*it's more like a self extracting exe file & scanned for no viruses but you should scan it anyways

You can try this one as well it worked for me or it may be the same one..

it is the same!
both files have exactely the same size

Using msconfig go to the Advanced tab and uncheck
"Disable Fast Shutdown" the above files usually do
this when installed. Sometimes they completely ghostout
the selection.

also might want to go to the update page on msn for your version of win98SE & just update a few things as you see fit for it.
There are so many fixes made for win98SE, I am sure you will need at least 1/3rd of them lol.
