Ok I reformated both my laptop and desktop back to win2k and had to manually update alot of the drivers (including the ones for my CDRWs) for the hardware since 2k is not a plug and play OS like XP is. I also went through and reloaded all of my programs that I still have the disks for, and or downloaded them. This includes the software for the burns (Nero 5, NTI Cd Maker 2000 plus and also Audio Cleaning Lab).I have successfully used NTI and ACL prior to the change of OS. So those 2 I know are compatible with my CDRWs.
I have tried to burn using the 3rd party burners, and both PCs tell me that no CD recording devices were found, and so on.
I went to the "admin tools" then to "computer managment" and on to "Device Manager" under this folder is the drop downs for the cdrw drives on both pc's. which gives the actual names for them (MAT****A UJDA720 DVD/CDRW for desktop & CDWRITTER IDE4816 for my laptop.
I am not an expert on these machines at all, I know just enough to get myself in trouble. But if the problem came about at the change of the OS then I figure I am missing something or messed something up.
