win2000 pro

i admin to about 15 workstations where my wife works at and rolled them over from win 98 to win2000 pro. since then, more than one person has commented that since the rollover, it takes alot more time to copy files from the hard drive to the a-drive with win 2000 than with win 98.

have not noticed this myself. has anyone heard of this? sounds sort of strange to me.

Files that is moved or copied to a FAT16 partition loses all NTFS information i.e. permissions.

So i guess its understandable to have a latency time when transfering from ntfs partition to a fat16 partition, let alone floppy.

But tell you the truth - i hardly noticed the difference after switching 98se to NT4 and 2000 myself, so i bet ur users are real picky and a pain to deal with :D - the ones i dealt with certainly are :D

that makes sense about the nt permissions. and your're right. one in particular is a little fussy about things. anyways, thanx for the response! later.
