Win XP home

Win XP home will not load, I get a message stating Windows.sys32/config. sys is missing or corrupted.

I have tried to boot into safe mode but still get the same message.

Can this be repaired, if so how? or do I have to format yet again

Any help would be appreciated

yes can be repaired by restoring an previous version of that file (a part of your registry)

Several known solutions:
a. follow the previous link.
b. At startup press F8 and load the "last known good configuration".
c. Boot from your XP CD, and perform a reparation of your windows installation.
