Win XP Activation

3 weeks ago I upgraded to Win XP pro with service pack 1 which I had to activate.

Yesterday my AMD 2000 chip overheated and burn't out as a result of this I have replaced this with a AMD2400 and a new Chaintech MoBo and 512 DER Ram.

So what I happen now as I have already registered my Winxp Pro with Microsoft, will the registration not go ahead? or do I have to purchase another Win xp Disk at £160.

Can someone give me some help, I have not installed anything yet

if you activated via microsoft...just call them and explain what happened...if you have a legit copy they will issue you a new code...I had to do the same when I replaced my MB

it's like jroc told, you have to do a new activation phone call, but not to purchase a new license;

Yep, just contact M$ via the phone when it prompts you. M$ is actually quite forgiving about this sort of thing. They give the consumer the benefit of the doubt in most cases.

When it happened to me, the M$ rep was quite friendly and understood when I told her I had just made an upgrade. No arguements, just gave me a new code. Did not have to give her ANY information other than the Activation code.

activation? what are you talking about activation i got 5 computers and all xp pro and same key but what is activation never heard of it really man i havent LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
