Has anyone used AShampoo's "Win Optimizer" program? Would like to know if it is of any value in clearing up problems in Win 98SE. A lot of these programs make a lot of claims but don't live up to them. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used this program. Thank you in advance.:) :) :)

I have tried it awhile ago on a clients machine but didnt like it all all ... It could have just been their machine but it freaked out their video pretty bad.

What I have found is the regular list of FREEWARE like TweakUI and JV16(.org) plus some custom .REG files Ive made over time are still the best way period.

To make your own custom settings goto regedit . com - Everything all those programs have is somewhere in there.

But the #1 best fix for win98 is as follows...

1) FDISK/Format
2) Install Win2k

Thanks for the response and your comments on Win Optimizer, you are probably right it may just compound the problems. A friend of mine tried a similar program on his computer and it just made things worse, plus he was out about $50 for the program (he didn't know there were such wonderful forums like this). Might try some of the freeware Prog's you suggested and thanks again for the comments.:) :) :)

What specifically are you trying to work around or optimize?

If I can I will see if I cant find the registry settings for your problems and make you a reg file to fix it or at least find a link for you that explains the situation.
