1. Is there any good win2k hint/tips sitez the ones i been to are crap
Yes but I dont have them in mind right now

2. In 98 you can run "msconfig" to see what processes are running...whats the command in win2kpro?
msconfig is a prog that shows you which prosesses that are loading at boot, and which programs /special fonts ++ that starts.
It does not show you which prosesses that is really running, because you you often has started other programs after you log in.
Msconfig is not a part of win2k, but there is a version (that I use) for w2k.
In w2k you use task manager (that you get by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL) to se which prosesses that are really running.

3. is services the same as msconfig? No , it is different.
But you can see the "services". You can use services in control panel to se the real services, and start-stop these.

4. Have i made a big mistake (lol)
NO, it is not a big mistake, do it , you will not regret. It is stable as a rock (for me). Only thing you may consider if there are some of your favorit apps or games that do not work in w2k .

There are some very useful free utiliies (including a process explorer ) for w2k at this site :

& you can use a copy of msconfig from XP on 2K!

going to 2k is a big plus, not a mistake at all; it's very stable jsut like svgusta said. I went from 98 and me to 2k and am very happy with it.

are three sites about 2k tips and info that i know of offhand; there are plenty of them; just do a search in google for windows 2000 and you will find more sites than you will have time to browse. There are these 2 forums that are also very good if you have questions; people are very nice and helpful

I had the same problem, shall I change or shall I not. As flyby2001 says, you get used to one OS and you know it inside out and I knew I wanted to try 2000 but I was worried about changing.
A good friend of mine showed me how to partition my largest drive, format that partition to NTFS and put on 2000 with a duel boot so if I choose, I can make it boot back into 98se.
I've found that I spend most of my time on 2000 and some programs even run across the two OS but others won't and have to be separately installed to the 2000 partition.
The only downside to this, if it is one, is that in 98 you can't see the 2000 partition but from 2000 you can see inside the other drives.
If all this sounds a bit weird then I better explain that I have two
SCSI hard drives and two IDE and the largest IDE is partitioned for the NTFS.
For me the 2000 is the OS of choice.
