Removal of Widescreen or Fullscreen question

I would like to know if and when you use this tool to remove either widescreen or fullscreen format from your dvd project, can this tool also remove the aspect ratio selection screen and update IFO's where when you hit play the movie format you chose to keep plays automatically?

Hi and welcome to the forums

the simple answer is yes it can remove either format

you must be careful though as, they may not be actual separate titles and actually share the VOB's so you may not even have to remove it

you can remove the selection screen but it is not clever enough to update the IFO's so it would just hang when you play it

you would have to get the movie to play directly after pressing PLAY from the menu by changing the commands in the IFO

2COOL at Doom9 has guides to do this

is the movie play button before or after the movie aspect selection?

if it's before I'm pretty sure that you could use Menuedit and check out the command of the selection screen that plays the movie you want and then copy that info into the actual Play button instead

I haven't tried it but maybe someonelse has

Thats exactly what i do. But in order to do it I use MenuEdit Registered. You just modify the cell with the button, delete the button and replace with NOP. Others good with IfoEdit can probably tell you slicker ways to do it but this works just fine for me.

I think he means deleting the format button you don't want to keep

this means you will still have to keep the selection screen but you can only select one format

that's why I suggested you remove the screen and mod the IFO to skip it

lrosado, MackemX hit it on the head. I have tried to mod the IFO, always with bad results, but then I admit to being an IfoEditaphobic. So I end up with the selection screen and the button disabled.

any possibility that this will be implemented in a future release of DS where one can delete the ratio selection screen as well as strip out the format you dont want and have DS update the IFO's to play the format that you kept automatically when you hit play on the main menu?

I very much doubt it will be implemented as the IFO's can be very tricky sometimes

I'm sure I will make a guide in time but I don't have any movies with dual format's yet

2COOL's guides are the best anyway, so I suggets people use those for now
