Hi
I wonder if you could help me with a problem with cdrwin 3.9g
I am using XP pro with a liteon LDW 811s with new firmware. the error i am getting is:
Error:`START DAO RECORDING`command failed on device 1:0:0 Disc type Not Supported
I can burn cdr media no problem 80 mins 74 mins etc.
but when i try to burn DVDR`s . I get the same error.At all recording speeds.I have also tried different media and dvdrw all with the same error.
Hope you can help
many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

sorry, personally i don't use CDRWin; me thinks the software don't know the drive, so it can't use its DVD features; or you tried a DVD+R and the burning engine supports DVD-R only;
please recheck CDRWin's homepage for supported drives and media; :)

The only problem with CDRwin is that his vendor doesn't know how to code- just how to leech other's work... It seems that he has not leeched all that well on the "new" DVD features. Unfortunately for him, the binaries he "borrowed" to make his program's CDR modules were GPL, while the DVD burning module is free, but not GPL (and it also needs a serial to unlock)- so he just cannot use it without being sued...
AFAIK very few burners can really burn DVD's with CDRwin, it seems that yours isn't one of them. There's a huge bunch of programs out there that do their job better than CDRwin, some of them being free- give them a go.

I am looking for some alternative software that does the same as cdrwin problem is I use it for burning .bin files for karaoke songs that I do ,and cant find any other one that will do the same as cdrwin with my drive.Like I say it does cdr`s fine but not dvdr`s

No I wanna copy .bin files to DVDR :)
Sorry, but this is not possible.
DVD can only hold pure ISO filesystems (with or without joliet extensions) and UDF. Most cue/bins that are out there hold filesystems supported only on CD and not DVD media. Of course you can extract the bin contents and reauthor them to DVD, but this might not be what you want.
