Which SVCD encoders also burn directly to cd-rom?

I have read alot here about which encoders are the best, and now I wont even touch Nero (happy guys? ;), so now im looking for an app that will convert the mpg, avi, and wma files to SVCD, then send them to the cd-rom (like, uhm, Nero does I guess.)

Quality is not a huge issue for me, as most of these video files are not the best quality to begin with (vidcaps off the tv).

Suggetions?

Arr... none that I know of, but if quality is not an issue then just use Nero (I dont believe I said that    ) but it will only write disk 1 automatically, you still have to be there for disk 2. I cant see the point really. With Nero though, expect some upside down results and many out of sync, and all burnt to a cd BEFORE you had a chance to check'em first.

With any conversion, it is very wise to check the playback of the converted file (be it VCD, SVCD or even DVD) before you burn it unless you have some desire to build a coaster or frisby collection. Encoding does NOT work 100% of the time primarily because of the origianl source problems (particularly in AVI's).

Check out the Tutorial section for AVI/MPEG to SVCD Tutorial, you really cant go wrong with that.

thanks chicken dude...

Little back story,

I have been using Nero 6 for like a year or so now, oddly enough, never have had one problem converting all kinds of video viles and burning as SVCD.

A few weeks ago, _something_ changed, and now, I get the "An unknown error has occured wth the MPEG convertor", or something along those lines.

I have reinstalled various copies of Nero 6 about 15 times now, and nothing fixes this issue. I know, at this point, you are saying "then dont use Nero dude". most of the time I dont have the time to convert with one app, and burn in another.

Anyway, I think maybe the CODEC on my XP Pro box somehow got corrupt, so today I will attempt to reinstall all my video CODECs.

What surprising me is that quality is not important, couse they are captured from tv>>I doing a capturing too-satellite source,so picture should be around same...and my picture is excelent..really excelent :) and i can bet that celtic druid or chickenman get it ewen better,so first be sure that youre recorded it good.
Btw i capture it in avi-uncompressed or huuv in stereo;48khz,16b and make it a svcd with cm tutorial using a dvd2svcd which use tmpegenc or cce as a encoder.
I tryed em both and tmpegenc is really not bad but is painfully slow.CCe is a encoder from the dreams :) Crystal clear picture and so fast-comparing to other encoders. Also that tutorial will make a finished svcd in a image format.
after that use any burning software and burn the image(bin&cue format),any will do :)

Quality of analogue TV caps tends to be pretty bad. This satellite is digital?

Really though the better the source the lower quality encoder you could use, not the other way around.

crap^2=really crap.
good*crap=not so crap.

I would post a copy-paste but doesent work from that site???Check first two links in a left side, source and rezolution, basically it says that you have a two rezolutions for regular and premium channels.Premium got bigger rezolution but also you can see the change when you watch it on tv.For example regulars are american lokal news for different cities.
Premium are hbo and other movie networks+payperwiew.
I recording from ppw couse mostly record a sporting events,and on regular channels it just comes delayed,like weeks after original event showed up.;
But back to your question,i got a regular(not digital)cable too and when comparing it,its a big difference.Like i dont have those lines at all,and you can see them clearly overthere.
About your post,i always read garbage in-garbage out on our forum-video section. So i always capture at biggest rate and compress later. And that tutorial using cce with dvd2svcd for converting avi to svcd works great,so why i would change it-disk more or less who cares..Now im trying to go more with divx and xvid :)
Btw for people who do capturing, check on same page tutorial using iuvcr. While with vdub i cant record over 640 couse im getting a dropped frames now??with iuvcr i can go to a max with 0 drop frames. And i mean 0 for a 3 hour event, its a really kicka$$ tutorial..or app, something is really good :)
Anyway check it out,its really good tut :)
