Which Software ?

which of the following software is best for quality results, (DVD Backup)

1. DVD Decrypter & DVD2One
2. DVDShrink
3. Other ?

Please reply if youve tried all software, thanks !

Instant copy Cd/dvd7 has given the best results on my system.I am referring to dvd9 because it needs transcoding.IC7 is slow however.CCE will do a better job,but is probably twice as slow, and requires a steeper learning curve(haven't tried it yet,too lazy). ;)

Yep, as woody said IC is the way to go unless yo have lots of time on your hands and don't mind going the DVD2SVCD + CCE route which is without question, apart from serial/eps DVD's, the way to go for the best possible results quality wise. Now I have a DVD burner on my 2nd system I will be going down that (CCE) route a lot more from now on myself. ;)

I have set myself though on current software criteria these rules which for *me* work. At the end of the day it's *your* eyes watching the finished movie and nobody elses so bear that in mind and be prepared to have "fun" experimenting along the way. :) :-

1) I use DVD Shrink for ALL DVD transcoding as long as........ I only have to use 80% compression or less and the film is usually movie only. (In fact you will be surprised on how many movies I do have 0% compression. Sometimes you have to cut the logos at the begining of the film or crop the end credits and of course remove all foreign sound and DTS soundtrack but none of these are important to me.)

2) I use IC 8 on ALL other films that go over the above criteria and strip out all I don't need. ALL episode discs are done with this too. I use ICHSE in conjunction with IC 8 and do a large analysis of the DVD.

Result = Works for me and my fussy eyes. :)

Was using IC7, and recently made my first backup with IC8 (part of my purchased Instant CD/DVD 8 suite). results are great all the time, and the new module seems significantly faster (IC7's main con) with no apparent quality compromise.

I agree with you 100%.

Fast option is utter cr@p though! But hey, that's not what IC is for anyways. :D lol

man im lost!!!!
i don't know which software to use.
i have roxio 6 and some d/led software and neither will let me back up my DVD's.
some shit about a copyright something or other.
any suggestions? :(

hahaah thanx poacher!!! i've beeen reading me arskie off and am starting to get a grasp on this great hobbie. everything seems easy enuff to follow directions but i run an older operating system on my pc and i can't have the large 4gb files, so i guess im going to have to settle for shrinking the files for now........how bout when you try to put a dvd on two blanks? will i still have to have XP or 2000? or will the files be smaller since im breaking it into two parts? lemme know !! in the meantime it's back to reading. thanx!

My advice is if U intend to get serious re DVD stuff U need to start using NTFS so 2000 or XP are definitely
the way to go.I even got a 2nd rig to do the DVD thingy
(even as I write a divx is going thru the Chookiemans tute to be converted to DVD).
Re the DVD onto 2 DVDR <> no idea NEVER done it I find Quality is fine compressing to one.
