Which software to make Data back-up on DVDs?

Well I've been burning CDR(RW) for some time now.
The applications that I use are:

CloneCD v4.3.1.6 & Nero v5.5.10.42. For the most part the latest.

I just got a LiteOn 401S.

Can I use Nero to make data back-ups on blank DVDs like I use to do with CDRs?

Ya, see I new to the DVD burning realm.

Any suggestions.

Thanks, Denexo.

What was throwing my off was that when I drag and dropped 4 gig into nero I didn't see that amount reflected on the bottom of the app, like I normally see with cdrs. ex. 0-750mb etc...

Nero alone is not good for DVD copies. You will also need Nero Recode (it is a commercial version of DVDshrink) to get a good DVD copy- also with transcoding, so one blank would fit a DVD-9 movie.
I would normally use DVD decrypter or DVdshrink to remove the protection and/or transcode, and then RecordNowMax to burn, but NeroRecode+ nero Burning ROM are supposed to do the same job- although not so painlessly.

i thought "thisisnuts" simply like to store plain data on a DVD(R); :confused:
Nero v5.5.10.42 would be a good choice for doing that;

Hi thisisnuts, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

try it again with Nero: choose "File" > "New" > "DVD-ROM (UDF)";
the 4500MB status bar is showing for me;

choose "DVD (ISO)" if you like to have W9x compatibility;

Guys, I thank you all for your responses and the welcome.

@Duracell: Thank you. I've been using Nero to create data disks for some time now. Never had a problem. Now that I just recently attained my LiteOn 401S, I decided to compile greater data on these DVDs. But didn't see the dropped down tab in Nero which gave me the option of CDs or DVDs with "New Compilation".

I'll begin with data first then movies. And thanks, scarecrow, for the tip.

By the way, can I make a multisession DVD disk the same way I used to do with CDs? I just bought some TDKs 4x DVD+R.

I've read some issues exits with the 401s, I hope I don't incounter them.

Again, thanks guys.

before you can choose between CD-R / DVD-R you have to select your LiteOn 401S in Menu > Recorder;

if you got your Nero version bundled with your CD-R burner, you can not select your LiteOn 401S as recording device; these Nero versions are limited to the device with they came bundled; you have to buy a new serial number online at http://www.nero.com/en/index.html or go for a retail box in your favorite online store;

if you got a second Nero CD with your LiteOn 401S too (limited to the LiteOn), then mail to sales@nero.com ; tell them you have 2 bundled versions and want to get a online key usable with both burners for free;

there is no standard for multisession DVDs, it's a irregular Nero invention; maybe it will work, can not try it myself, because i don't own a DVD burner; :D
